Why do people own narrow boats?

 As we travel around the country we have seen a huge number of narrow boats, and more recently a good number of wide beam narrow boats. Who owns them and what do they do with them? One thing is for sure, they are not all out on the canals travelling the length and breadth of the country. Thank goodness, as even a small percentage would cause total gridlock. We have experienced a busy canal at Llangollen on Easter weekend. On the other hand we have experienced days when we have seen only one or two other boats on the move all day. Welsh 3000s

The Welsh 3000’s is a mountain challenge that consists of traversing all 15 of the Welsh peaks that exceed 3000′ within a 24 hour period. The clock starts at the summit of Snowdon and the traverse ends at the summit of Foel-fras. The total distance is about 24 miles, and the total ascent is just over 10,000′ ( 3,060m). Of course, we also have to get to the top of Snowdon and get down from the final peak so we will have done rather more than this by the time we are finished. The Challenge is being organised by my stepson Anton Price. He is collecting donations to two different charities, and writes: Dear Friends.
